ABOUT US

THE GROUP was formed in 1976 by 25 leading construction companies. It is a non-profit making, contractors association, run solely for the benefit of it's members.

THE OBJECT is by coming together, to provide member companies with a Safety, Health, Environment Management, and Quality advice, as good as any enjoyed by the biggest companies, by sharing full time, fully qualified advisors.

THE GROUP SAFETY HEALTH ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT AND QUALITY ADVISERS have many years experience of work of all sizes and types and how to plan them. The group has built up a large library of legislation and guidance, and is able to provide members with ready made systems of producing SHE Policies, SHE Plans, Risk Assessments, and Environmental Impact Assessments to conform with current legislation.

The safety advisers carry out regular audits to ensure SHE policies are being followed, and to minimise the company's exposure to prosecution or to compensation claims; make sure that plant, workshops and examination routines comply with the law; keeps members up to date with changes in law; investigates accidents and incidents with a view to preventing recurrence and produces reports for insurance purposes; liaises with outside bodies such as the H.S.E., S.E.P.A. and the D.W.P.

Advisers are qualified to help members obtain ISO 9001 Quality Assurance status, produce Safety Manuals compatible with the Quality Manual, and to obtain ISO 14001 Environment Management and ISO 18001 approval.

We help our members to obtain CHAS and CONSTRUCIONLINE accreditations.

TRAINING is provided for management on all aspects of new legislation; and for employees - abrasive wheels, alloy towers, confined spaces, scaffolding inspection, fire safety co-ordinator, plant operator, and one day SHE awareness courses.

The group is an SQA Approved Centre, taking General Building Operatives [GBO's], up to SVQ level 2, and Site Supervisors up to SVQ Level 3.

Training grants are offered from CITB. Contact us to find out about eligibility.

THE ADVANTAGES are that accidents environmental incidents are preventable. They are very wasteful not only in human terms, but they cost you money and are damaging to the reputation of your company. The safety group helps you keep these losses to a minimum.

Clients and customers are aware that they can be held responsible by the courts for everything which happens on their sites. Group membership is the best possible way of assuring clients that your company has a concerned, professional approach to safety health and environment management.

Group membership counts in your favour when insurance premiums are assessed.
